Sky Pirates Adopt A Highway

Sky Pirates have adopted a 2 mile section of Rt 611 in Doylestown. It starts at Broad St (the first exit north of 202) and continues north to Danbury (where the divided highway comes back together). We will have our first clean up on Saturday, April 17. The plan is to meet at the K-Mart parking lot near Rita’s Water Ice at 8 a.m. Please contact Dave by Wednesday, April 14 if you will be able to help.

February 2010 Meeting Minutes

Dave reported that the club’s adopt-a-highway effort is proceeding well, with our first clean up to take place in March or April. Barry reported that the treasury is in OK shape for the beginning of the new membership year.

Dave gave a very informative tutorial on engine maintenance, including replacement of bearings and valve adjustment. He used his Saito 125 4-stroke as a guinea pig. Bearing replacement was surprisingly easy, and took under 1 hour. A 2-stroke engine would be even easier. Dave said the set of front and rear stainless steel bearings cost about $12 from www.rc-bearings.com . Contact Dave with questions or for a copy of the tutorial material.

We welcomed new member Rob to the Club.

A group of us are planning to drive up to the WRAM show in White Plains, NY on Saturday, Feb 20. If you would like to come along contact either Dave, Jack or Jon.

Here is an opportunity to greatly reduce your travel time to the flying field – - by living right at the field! Our landlord and fellow club member Terry has an apartment for rent. It has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, washer and dryer, and there is a separate entrance at his house. If you know of anyone looking for an apartment, please pass the word. Engine Workshop Meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010 at 8 PM

Our February meeting will be on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 8 p.m. in the Bucks County / Northampton Township Municipal Authority meeting room in Richboro. The special topic for this meeting will be overhaul of 2- and 4-cycle engines. Dave will demonstrate how to replace bearings and other maintenance. Visitors are always welcome to attend any of our meetings.
